With the help of technology, humans convert natural resources into simple tools, which are now used for the betterment of mankind. In our study we are talking about advancements within some specific fields of technology. Those fields include computing industry, cellular industry, web advancements, wireless connections, touch screens etc.

When we talk about the emerging technologies then the first thing that comes to our mind is computing and its related products. As we all know that there was a time when computers were not easily available to everyone. There use to be one computer and several users. But now it is a necessity for every single individual.  With the passage of time the size of all the tools is shrinking. New storage and external devices are now being introduced by the hardware manufacturers, which occupy less space and provide better services. Some advancement in the computing industry are handi laptops, tablet pc’s like iPad, USB 3.0, 3D printing, HTML 5 etc.

The latest development is introduction of iPad- the tablet pc and it is being considered that soon they will replace the desktop computers and laptops as well. Tablet pc’s can be called as smallest version of handheld computers, which can be carried at any place, anytime without any inconvenience.

Now a days we all are well aware form the name of 2D and 3D movies. With that HD (High Definition) video quality is not a new name for us. All these developments are increasing our experience of watching quality video content not on the internet only but on DVD discs also. Few years back antennas were set to watch your favorite channels on TV. And your choices of channels were so limited, but now you can select one channel from a list of hundreds of channels without adjusting your antenna. Satellite system is helping us in doing this all. Dishes are used to catch the signals ad those are connected to our TV. Where we can watch any channel available to us and can easily switch between channels by pressing a single button of our TV remote.  

Another industry which is at its boom period is the cellular industry (Mobile technology). This is one of the most fascinating technologies that have raised the most in last decay. Everyday we come to know about the new and advance models of smart phones. Not only modification has been made into the design of the cell phones, but with that new software and hardware modifications are also being made now. Introduction of 3G and now 4G phones is taking this industry to another level. Speed of data transferring from mobile and handset devices is increasing with speed of light

Wi-fi and Wimax technology has made connectivity with any device so easy. Touch screen gave another edge to the smart phones. There was a time when cell phones were considered as just a medium of communication, but now with the passage of time it took the place of best mates of humans. Anyone can have anything of his choice on his own personal phone, very easily and quickly. Now mobile phone is your mini TV, personal camera, handycam, iPod, internet browser and number of other countless things.

When we are taking about technology then how it can be possible to forget World Wide Web and internet itself. As all of us know that without internet our computers and cell phones would not be as worthy for us, as they are with these facilities. Year 2011 was named as a year of technology and internet advancement. Some years back a simple web site use to take minutes to open, but now days with the great connectivity and speed of internet bulky sites take seconds to open. Now internet supports High definition videos content and live high speed stream. Just because of internet and web sites we can be linked to this global village all the time. And can get info about any topic of our interest. Now students don’t have to go to libraries and search for countless books to get their desired data. It just took a second on internet and all your specified information is on front of you. You can communicate with anyone, anywhere in the world with the help of internet. Just connect to internet through Wi-Fi or cable and you are ready to go in the world of your desire.
