Operating system is the most important component of the computer system. Operating system helps the users to communicate with the machine easily. There are many different operating systems which are available in the market. These operating systems are available in many different ranges and varieties. Initially the operating systems which were designed for individual users were different from the OS used for commercial purposes or large networks. Modern operating systems are highly efficient and they can be used for single user and commercial accordingly. Operating systems are considered really useful for the simplifying user operations. The compatibility of operating systems is measured by analyzing its performance in terms of performing multiple tasks over processors.

If you ask me to name the most successful operating system 2010, it is no doubt windows 07. The Windows operating system together accounts for 90% of the total market. However there are many names but most common and frequently used OS are Win7, Linux, Mac, Windows XP, and Windows 2000and Windows Vista. The windows operating system is considered equally useful for commercial as well as domestic users. Mac on the other hand is considered highly secure operating system which is often used for many complex commercial purposes. Linux is also famous for its unbreakable codes and programming hence it is often used in banks as communication link between bank employees and PC’s. Windows is the most popular and widely used operating system and it is leaving others behind due its efficient user friendly interface.
