Security issues of Windows Vista
It seems that if the tag of poor security has been attached to all of Microsoft’s existing Operating system product line. The earlier versions of Windows OS like XP were criticized badly for its poor security features. Besides Microsoft’s efforts to improve the operating system there were no fruitful results. However same are the charges attached to the working of the Windows Vista. No doubt all of the Windows operating system’s come with some exceptional features, leaving behind all the available OS in the market. Analysts say that it is the success of the products that brought more hackers towards destroying the security of their operating systems.
Features of Vista
This power Windows operating system comes with some amazing features like easy search bars, improved security and better performance even on dual core processors. Windows vista is claimed to overcome all the vulnerabilities of Windows XP. Therefore it is the claim of the company that Windows Vista is much more secure than the XP. The company also claims that it is much harder for the hackers and crackers to target your system containing Windows Vista. Some additional security features like parental lock, User Account Control, firewall, automatic Spy ware control, quick security updates are key and crucial security features of Windows Vista. The presence of pop up messages over and again when any of the unwanted software is trying to install itself keeps the user aware of the system threats it can cause. Therefore as far as the performance of the Vista is concerned the company has put maximum efforts to improve it. However the introduction of new and new viruses and worms has troubled this Windows as well.
Problems with Vista
Besides the company’s claim for solid defense against many worms and viruses Vista poses some serious security threats to the system. The users said that the security concerns for windows Vista are same as were with XP. Trying to be really effective against Spy ware and other malicious viruses instead this OS seem to have many flaws. This Os has yet not proved to be really effective in controlling the activities of the worms and Malware. Windows Vista is not proved really helpful in securing the system from Malware and hackers. However the correspondent from Microsoft said that the hackers are paid to break the code of the Windows Vista so that it can not perform according the user’s expectations. The company also claims that each of the Microsoft’s products is fully tested before it is launched in the market. The company also clamed that Vista‘s launch was delayed in order to meet the shortcomings associated with previous Windows OS. Hence we can say though the company is not able to provide perfect security features but t keeps on rectifying its products in order to meet the user’s requirements.
Microsoft’s Claim
The company is not admitting the weaknesses of its operating system. Instead it is blaming others for creating problems for their Windows Vista versions. Microsoft’s intelligence is reporting that individual hackers are paid to break the codes of its softwares and that they are focusing on targeting the different applications of their operating systems. Thus in such circumstances what can Microsoft alone do to overcome the deficiencies in windows Vista. Vista is loaded with security features. Some features are so new that hardly any other operating system can cover them it is the market share of Windows operating system that has forced the competitors to use unethical ways of playing with the security issues of its key products like Windows Vista. What ever are the problems with Vista it is still doing business for Microsoft.
