Difference between Linux and Windows OS with Linux Perspective
Linux Vs Windows OS
Linux was established in 1971 while Microsoft came into being in around in 1975. Both the companies are supplying and catering to the same market. However then why there is a huge difference in market share of these software giants. The most obvious reason is that Linux based its early target market on servers only while left a wide gap for Microsoft to avail the market segment of home users. This is the reason that now Microsoft accounts for total 90% market share while leaving only 10 to 12% for Linux.

Key features of Linux Giving it Edge over Microsoft
Putting aside the market share if we try to analyze the feature and performance of Windows and Linux we would end up giving more points to Linux. There many reasons which would support my argument. First and the foremost reason is that Linux is a very low cost choice while Windows on the other hand is burden on one’s pocket. Linux is an open source free OS and gives enough leverage to its users in order to use them on many systems without asking for further licensing. However in order to deploy Windows one has to separately seek the licensing of Microsoft. In the end the users have to bear hefty cost. Most promising edge of Linux is that it is highly secure against Malware threats. Whereas most of the windows OS are blamed for the poor security. Linux is an open source OS and allows only authorize users to modify the codes and alter the file settings. The Linux operating system is based on UNIX kernel architecture which is really helpful in supporting multi users and gives flexibility to the clients. Linux systems are also very hardware friendly and can be used in dual processors and embedded processors. However some of the Versions of the Windows do not give flexibility and support to the varied processors.
Security of Linux and Windows
Windows Operating systems like XP faced worst criticism for its poor security features. It was declared very ineffective against the Malware, worms and Trojan horses. The Linux operating systems on the other hand are rarely crashed and can be used without rebooting for years due to its sound security features. One more reason which is contributed to the strong security of Linux OS is that the code of the Linux is available to the authorize users. If they find presence of any virus they can modify the code and change files accordingly. However in case of Windows the users has to wait for the response of the company in order to make adjustments. Windows XP came with many patch and anti virus versions but still failed to fight the worms and viruses. Microsoft defended itself on many grounds like a correspondent once said that the hackers are paid to break the Windows code due its expansion and popularity. However this is not the case in reality. The fact is that all of the Windows versions have poor quality security features.
An Important Consideration
When ever you are confused with the choice of using and installing software on your PC it is best to choose an operating system which gives enough security and multi user’s access. Linux OS allows frequent distribution and can be installed in many systems desktop or PDA’s. Windows operating system on the other hand is an operating system which is a complete license program and can be used only on a single computer with one license. For further use one has to seek another license. Thus Linux is an affordable multi user operating system for all of us.
