How a smart card works?

A smart card is defined as the mini computing devices that are formed due to combination of different type integrated circuits to perform different types of functions. Different types of ICs are used in such forms of cards because it is depend upon the architecture that what type of integrated circuits are located in the card. There are two different types of smart card embedded with two different integrated circuits, Memory card and the Micro processors card. Memory card are those card that have ability to store non volatile data and the function of the microprocessor card is to keep the volatile data and different micro processing components. Smart cards are also called as the integrated circuits cards.

How Smart Card Works?
Smart card does not work individually but different type of electronic devices are required for their proper functioning and used for storing data of different type. This technology of storing data through smart card is very popular among all over the world. Such type pf cards have ability to save different type of information that are useful for the many purposes such as calling, business cards networking cards and many more. The working or the data storing methods of the typical smart card depends upon the devices that re used for such purposes. Smart cards are only work or applicable on the small amount of data for storage. The working of the smart is powered by the other electronic devices; it does not have any power source.

Smart Card Reader:
As we know that smart card is the data storing device that can store very useful data up to small amount. But smart cards are not able to retrieve the data so, a device is used to decode the data is called as the smart card reader. Different types of smart cards are placed in the specific reader to retrieve the saved data. So smart card readers are also the part of the working and the function of the smart cards.

Construction of the Smart Card:

Construction or the building of the smart card also plays a vital role in the working of the smart card for storing the useful data from every where. Construction of the smart card can be carried out with real accuracy by keeping in view the working performance of the cards. There are different type of parts are involved in the smart card building to maintain the storage files and remain them on the card memory. There are different type of integrated circuits are used in the card along with the micro processor type unit that can control the activity of the cards in storing the data. The major part of the smart cards is the EEPROM, which stands for electrical erasable programmable read only memory, RAM is also involved in the formation or the working of the smart cards. ROM is also involved, in some new technology different type of advance form of the processors used.

Applications of the Smart Card:

There are so many of applications of the smart card are there that governs the working of the smart cards and also tells the people the working performance of the cards, some of the important applications of the smart cards are as follows

Sim Cards:
Different type of cellular companies can used the smart card technology to store the data about their services in the form of sim cards. They are providing with the GSM technology and people can use them to contact others.
Credit Cards:
Smart cards are also applicable to keep the financial services more reliable and faster by taking part in the credit or ATM cards.
Network Security is also the application of the smart card.
