Desk Area Network

Introduction

Desk area network is workstation with multi media capabilities and truly based on the ATM interconnections .in short it is called as DAN .it can communicate with the other connect peripheral devices with the help of the switch fabrics indicated on the ATM cells. It basically used to investigate the entire architecture of the Desk Area Network.

Historical Background
The initial conceptual research papers on the Desk Area networks were initially given by Derek MC Auely and Mark Hayter which provide a complete implementation view of the atm cell along with the desk Area network properties and characteristics .At that the other was no functional desk area was there. After the initial concept other researches provide clear overview of Dan to collaborate with the central processing unit.

Architecture
Desk Area network has the multimedia based architecture. Its construction is quite simple .it use ATM technology for connecting the different parts or components of the same machine. The main purpose for developing this device is to improve the performance throughput rate of the central processing unit. The entire devices work together with the help of internal transfer protocols which supports the in flow and outflow of the data streams form and to the devices. DAN were never so simple, the use of Atm technology have distinguished and simplified the networking of Dan in the Local and wide area networks.

How desk area networks works
Desk area networks works with the help of atm technology when a data it  transferred  through the DAN ,there are two locations whether  it can reach it may reach it destination or specified location and secondly it may be sent to the none sent item and it is also prompted to the user that message has not reached the required destination. This may require upgrading and change in the internal protocols of the networks. Every device involved in the network uses ATm cell for the communication and transfer of the data. Each has the specific stream and design flow to support the entire scheme. ATM simplifies the data network. Both local and wide area networks can be highly facilitated by this super technology. The connection oriented. the nature of the data here is the connection oriented which also supports the routing functions as well from all the destination source such as wide area network and he local area networks .every end point is associated with the entire network via any of the network topology support. The best example for this could be the virtual circuitry videos data streams which may also carry the quality information for routing and the frame store for the network windows.

Advantages of the Desk area networks
Desk area networks provide different advantages for the processing. The basic aim for the development of the desk area networks is to provide the better and improved CPU performance and it also connects the other available interconnecting devices.

  • It enables the device to device and internal central processing unit communication which is necessary for the high performance.
  • It permits the switch fabrication or connection oriented end points for the every device.
  • Random points allows immediate data communication
  • It also offers the high level bandwidth as it uses the ATM technology for the data communication and transfer.

Future perception

Desk area networks are getting fame day by day because of its high performance and extra facilities for the effective communication and data transmission. Several projects are under processing which are having head of different large research centers. It can be assumed that more high speed data packet integration techniques can make DANs more popular as they are today.
