CompTIA Certifications - Introduction to CompTIA Certifcations
CompTIA Certifications: An Introduction
CompTIA is a “non-profit trade association advancing the global interests of information technology (IT) professionals and companies including manufacturers, distributors, resellers, and educational institutions.” Unlike Cisco and Microsoft, which are corporations with commercially driven interests, CompTIA is an organization of which both Cisco and Microsoft are part. In fact several Cisco and Microsoft certifications require CompTIA certifications to achieve some of their certifications. Thus CompTIA can be thought of as a not-for-profit, neutral and educational IT association that provides services that are not focused on a specific technology. They cover both proprietary and open source technologies as is seen by the inclusion of Linux certifications.
